Prompt: This discussion assignment is intended to introduce you to FlightAware. FlightAware is a free service that allows you to track airline flights, even individual aircraft, although some aircraft are blocked for security reasons.

  1. Go to FlightAware (Links to an external site.).
  2. On the home page select an airport that you are familiar with or just one you may be interested in and insert the ICAO code for the airport in the search area near the top of the page. Example: Fort Myers's Page Field is KFMY.
  3. Look at the arrivals and departures. Hover over a flight or two on the map display.
  4. Select an aircraft or flight in the departure section. Look over to the right under Flight Data and you can see the route of flight that aircraft is planning.
  5. Post what you see on FlightAware. Review this web site and let the class know what you initially find.
