Materials Required Text and Reading: Nankervis, A., Baird, M., Coffey, J. and Shield, J. (2014) Human Resource Strategy and Practice (8th ed.), Cengage, South Melbourne. In addition to the nominated pages/chapters of the textbook, there are several other required readings. A list can be found on the course Blackboard site under ‘Course materials'.You've been given a consulting assignment to design a turnaround HRM and ER strategy for the new owners. Despite the contention that pluralism is the dominant paradigm to understand working relations, the new owners see work through a unitarist frame of reference. Prepare a response for the management team which considers the following issues. They are not in any order and should not be treated as the exclusive list.

1. Identify the key factors you will need to consider in formulating an HRM and ER strategy with outcomes specified in measurable terms. These may, of course, affect recruitment and selection, training and development, and compensation and benefits.

2. Identify potential problems that may hinder the implementation of your new strategy.

Suggest possible ways to overcome these challenges.
