Question: Use the Automobile dataset to answer the following questions.
a. We're concerned whether the general public is neutral to the statement "I am worried about global warming" ("warming" variable in column 9; check more details in SPSS variable view window). Formulate your hypotheses and conduct a one-sample t test (attach you SPSS output tables) to test your hypotheses and then interpret the results to draw conclusions.
b. We're concerned whether female and male share different views towards the statement "I am worried about global warming". Formulate your hypotheses (H0&H1) and conduct an "independent-sample t test" (attach you SPSS output tables) to test your hypotheses and then interpret the results to draw conclusions.
c. Recode "age" into a different "agerange" variable by having different age range groups. Specifically, 20- anyone between 44 recoded as "1" labeling "young adults; anyone between 45-64, recoded as "2" labeling "middle aged"; anyone above 65 recoded as "3" labeling "seniors". We're concerned whether individuals' opinions towards the statement "I am worried about global warming" vary across different age groups. Formulate your hypotheses (H0&H1) and conduct an ANOVA test (attach you SPSS output tables) to test your hypotheses and then interpret the results to draw conclusions.
Consider the ski resort satisfaction data we used in class. This was data based on a survey of 500 users of a ski resort. In class we did part of the analysis. In this question you will be asked to redo some of the analysis and complete the rest.
Please show your SPSS output and then discuss the hypothesis testing results.
a. Is there a significant association between user intensity and satisfaction? If so, which user intensity segments are more/less satisfied?
b. Is there a significant association between user type and satisfaction? If so, which user types are more/less satisfied?
c. The client (the ski resort manager) tells you: "It is not worth it for me to know satisfaction separately for user type and user intensity, since all snowboarders are heavy users and skiers are infrequent users anyway". Check this statement using cross-tab analysi
d. This ski resort is positioned as a snowboarder friendly resort with special emphasis on catering to locals who visit fairly frequently. In light of this, is the resort currently performing well? (Hint: check the satisfaction rate for snowboarders.)
