The heights of a particular plat are normally distributed with a mean of 23 centimetres. A new fertilizer is to be tested on a random sample of 61 plants to see if it will increase the mean height. Assume the sample results show a mean height of 24.9 centimetres and a standard deviation of 6.4 centimetres. At the 2.5% level of significance, can it be concluded that the fertilizer has increased the mean height of the plants? Formulate and test the appropriate hypotheses.
