The board should also define what constitutes and avoid conflict of interests. In this context, the board enables the organization to operate with transparency and accountability.  

There are different steps the board of directors for a nonprofit organization should take to enhance accountability and efficiency in its operations. Firstly, the board should ensure the members follow all laws and policies of the state agencies. Additionally, there should be documentation of compensation of board members to enhance transparency. Additionally, the board should be procedures to provide information to the public and ensure regular audits.
