For SOCl2, from step 3 to step 4 how do we know when toadd in another bond to form a double bond between the O and Satoms? In step three they already fulfill the octet rule, could someone please help me understand why double bonds are added inonce the rule is fulfilled. Is this due to further stabilization of the atom which is natures natural tendency to goto a lower energy?
