One type of interaction of population in an ecosystem has to do with the food chain called the phenomenon of "eating and being eaten". This is made more complicated by the fact that food chains interlace in nature giving rise to food webs.

Make a food web showing the many interconnecting food chains in a community of your choice. It can be a forest, grassland, an ocean, or a lake.

The food web has four characteristics: (INCLUDE THE FOUR CHARACTERISTICS)

It consists of a number of interconnected food chains through which energy travels in an ecosystem.

Usually, members of higher trophic levels feed upon many organisms of lower trophic levels.

The presence of complex food webs increases the stability of the ecosystem.

More complex food webs improve the adaptability and competitiveness of the organisms.
