You are a social worker employed in a public hospital. Fatima (she/her) is a 16-year-old girl of Muslim background. She comes from a tight knit family and experienced a relatively good childhood but is now estranged from her family. She was made homeless five nights ago after her family discovered that she was gay. Fatima has never slept away from home or spent a night apart from her parents and siblings. She presented in the mental health ward three nights ago after self-harming. The doctors in the hospital have placed Fatima on antidepressant medication. Fatima has reported to the nursing staff that she does not really understand why she is on these drugs or what they do. She expresses feeling alone, isolated, and ashamed for committing the "major sin" of being same sex attracted. Fatima needs to meet with you before she can leave the hospital.
