Describe the 5-Step Hypothesis Test for a particular claim related to your work or life environment. (This should be a test of one-sample mean or one-sample proportion. The test may be based on a large or a small sample. The decision rule may be based on critical values, or on the p-value.) You need to state the claim, define the null and alternative hypotheses, identify the test significance and the test statistic, and state the decision rule that will be used and be very specific about each.
The various measures of central tendency: compare them (how they are similar) and contrast them (how they are different), including specific references to numbers, pictures, and tables derived from the data set.
Be certain to mention the direction of the relationship, the strength of the relationship, and whether our findings are statistically significant
A population has mean 325 and variance 144. Suppose the distribution of sample means is generated by random samples of size 36.
The amount of time a bank teller spends with each customer has a population mean = 3.1 minutes and population standard deviation = 0.4 minute.
Find the least squares regression line by deciding which are the appropriate independent and dependent variables and calculating the equation of the line. State equation of line.
For each of the following, identify the scale of measurement (NOIR) and the best measure of central tendency for the data.
Determine what analysis would you do on each problem (i.e., one-sample z-test, one-sample t-test, proportion test, two-sample independent t-test, or paired test)?
In 2010, 65% of adult Americans thought that the death penalty was morally acceptable. In a poll conducted by the Gallup Organization, a simple random sample of 1005 adult Americans
A group of 20 sales associates agree to go through a week-long sales class to improve their productivity. The amount of their sales are computed for one month before and one month after the training course.
The breaking strengths of cables produced by a certain manufacturer have a standard deviation of 82 pounds. A random sample of 150 newly manufactured cables has a mean breaking strength of 1950 pounds.
A better case can be made that observation 13 (Los Arboles) is an outlier. Describe what this means in plain terms.
Point out your final decision concerning hypothesis test and compute p-value for test.
