Bonebright (2010), suggests that Bruce W. Tuckman’s five stages of group development are the most influential one.

Forming/ first stage: the groups are given tasks, sets rules for the firms, tests the boundaries for interpersonal and task behavior. The relationship between employees and their leaders is also established in this stage,

Storming/ second stage: This phase is an emotional response of a group towards the assigned task due to lack of unity and can create an unkind environment among employees.

Norming/ third stage: In this stage, people try to avoid the conflict and develop a mutual understanding to complete a task.

Performing/ fourth stage: In this stage, a group focuses on completing a task which makes them flexible and supportive of each other by channeling their hard work to enhance the work performance.

Adjourning/ fifth stage: This emphasizes a point where a group should have appropriate closure as well as recognition for the work they have completed. After the completion of a given task, they will be starting a new project and work together to accomplish it.
