The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it can only change forms. The second law of thermodynamics states that energy systems have a tendency to increase their entropy rather than decrease it. Organisms can be considered energy systems. Why do organisms do not violate the second law of thermodynamics?
