Question: Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. Many people with Rheumatoid arthritis have rheumatoid factor in their blood. Rheumatoid factor is an abnormal antibody. What is an autoimmune disease? Outline a simple test to detect the presence of rheumatoid factor in plasma. Will a positive result mean that the person definitely has the disease? Why or why not?
