For the graph of the function y = 2x² - 8x + 6, find the vertex and -intercept and sketch the graph. First, a = 2 and b = -8 This means that the x-coordinate of the vertex is

-b = -(-8) = 8 = 2

and the y-coordinate is

y = 2(2²) - 8(2) + 6 = -2
