1. (a) A block of wood of mass 4.85 kg rests on a horizontal frictionless surface. A bullet of mass 0.062 kg and velocity 213 m/s is fired horizontally into the wood and passes through having a velocity of 162 m/s as it comes out.

Calculate

i) the velocity of the wood after the bullet has passed through, v.

ii) the change in total kinetic energy before and after the collision.
