The loading of an industrial facility on a 240 V, 60 Hz system includes:
20 kW resistive load
50 kW induction motors operating at 0.7 power factor lagging
10 kVA capacitive load at 0.7 power factor leading
(a) Find the total real power drawn from the source by the combined loads.
(b) Find the total reactive power. Does the combined load absorb reactive power or Deliver reactive power?
(c) Find the total apparent power of the combined loads.
(d) Find the power factor of the combined load and specify whether it is leading or Lagging.
(e) Determine the KVA rating of the capacitor that must be placed in parallel with the Loads to raise the combined power factor to 0.95
