1. An amusement park ride consists of a rotating circular platform 8 m in diameter from which 15, kg seats are suspended at the end of 2.5 ni massless chains. When the system rotates, the chains make an angle of 32° with the vertical.

Find (a) the tension in the chains (b) the period of the motion.

2. As a 6.0-kg object moves along the x-axis, the only force acting on it is given by F = (3x2 + 2x +5) N, where x is measured in m. If the object moves from x = 1.0 m to x = 3.0 m, what is (a) the work done by the force (b) the speed of the block at x = 3.0 m if the block's speed at x = 1.0 m is 2.0 m/s?

Bonus question:

A 3 kg steel ball strikes a wall with a speed of 10 m/s at an angle of 30o with the normal to the walll. It bounces off with the same speed and angle, as shown in the figure.

Find

(a) the change in momentum.

(b) the force exerted by the wall if the ball is in contact with the wall for a time of 0.05 s.
