Evaluate the answer of the given problem
Problem- The curing of concrete is an exothermic reaction; the curing process prouces volumetric heating. If a concrete slab is thick enough, the temperature can rise to the point where thermal stresses may cause cracking.
Consider a large slab of concrete 1m thick (i.e., 2L = 1m). Assume, steady-state operating conditions, and define the origin of the coordinate x from the centerline of the slab. The slab surfaces are maintained at T=T1 at x=-L and T=T2 at x=+L. The curing process produces a uniform internal heat generation rate of Wi. The thermal conductivity of the concrete is k.
Part 1- Determine the temperature distribution in the slab Ta(x), if T1=T2
Part 2- Next assume that T1 is not equal to T2, Determine the temperature distribution in the slab Tb(x)
Part 3- Calculate the maximum temperature in the slab, if T1=T2=20C, k=1.1 W/m x k, and Wi = 120 W/m3
I need experts assist to find the temperature distribution in the slab.
