1. A quick service restaurant is considering changing the number of process steps necessary in assembling a burger. Currently the burger assembly process requires four steps, each of which operates at the 4 sigma quality level. It is expected that after increasing the number of process steps to eight, the quality level will increase to a 5.5 sigma level. Calculate the net gain or loss in the final quality level if the restaurant proceeds with the change in the number of process steps.

2. Assume that the four-step process described in Problem 8 is replaced by a three-step process with the same sigma level. Find the sigma level for each of the three steps.
