Question (a): An 11 kV, single phase system is protected by a scheme using 1000/5 CTs and an IDMT relay having a plug setting of 150% and time multiplier setting of 0.68 (FIGURE 3).
Using the standard PSM/time characteristic, find the relay operating time (TMS = 1) for a 236 MVA fault.
(b) The circuit breakers CBI, CB2, CB; and 034 are part of a scheme which uses 1000/5 CTs and IDMT relays.
If the maximum fault current capability is 6700 amps, clearance of which must be initiated in 2.25 secs, select, using the standard characteristic:
(i) plug setting multipliers for CBI at plug settings of 100% and 50%
(ii) the time multiplier setting of each IDMT relay to afford effective discrimination of 0.4 sec at a plug setting of 50%.
The forward transmittances of unity feedback tracking systemsare given below. For each, find the type number of the system, thesteady state error coefficients k0,k1, and k2 and the steady stateerrors to unit step ramp, and parabolic inputs.
Calculate the electron and hole densities in an n-type silicon wafer (Nd=10^17 cm^-3) illuminated uniformly with 100 mW/cm^2 of red light (Eph = 1.8 eV). The absorption absorption coefficient of red light in silicon is 10^-3 cm^-1.
Why is the idea of using electronic cash still so popular despite the many failures in the last few years
What is the current i flowing into or out of the machine? What is the power flowing into or out of the machine? If the speed of the rotor were changed to 550 rad/s, what would happen to the current flow into or out of the machine?
EGB120 Foundations of Electrical Engineering Assignment. Calculate the output voltage of Cyril's generator when he is riding at 30 km/h
Suppose that we want to determine how many of the bits in a six-bit unsigned number are equal to 1. Design the simplest circuit that can accomplish this task.
A parallel-plate capacitor is charged to a potential V0, charge Q0 and then disconnected from the battery. The separation of the plates is then halved. What happens to (a) the charge on the plates
A load is drawing 10 A rms when connected to a 1200 V rms supply running at 50 Hz. If the source is operating at a lagging PF of 0.9, calculate (a) the peak voltage magnitude; (b) the instantaneous power absorbed by the load at t = 1 ms
Consult a semiconductor electronics text and note the extensive use of germanium and silicon semiconductor materials. - Review the characteristics of each material.
