A sinusoidal signal of the form  s transmitted from a fixed platform. The signal is received by an antenna which is on a mobile platform that is in motion relative to the transmitter, with a velocity of relative to the direction of signal propagation between the transmitter and receiver. Therefore, the received signal experiences a Doppler shift and (ignoring noise in the receiver) is of the form
