Problem: Content Mastery Testing

After studying and reviewing the concepts and practices of Module 2, answer the following questions:

I. Standing eye heights of men are normally distributed with a mean of 64.3 in. and a standard deviation of 2.6 in. (based on anthropometric survey data from Gordon, Churchill, et al.).

1. Find the probability that the standing eye heights of men is greater than 60 in.

2. Find the probability that the standing eye heights of men is less than 64 in.

II. Scores on the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS) are normally distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. A sample of 64 GARS scores is randomly selected and the sample mean is computed. Find the probability that the sample mean GARS score is less than 105.

III. Assume that the population of human body temperatures has a mean of 98.6°F, as is commonly believed. Also assume that the population standard deviation is 0.62°F (based on data from University of Maryland researchers). If a sample of size n = 106 is randomly selected:

1. Find the probability of getting a mean of 98.2°F or lower.
