Assume a standard deck of 52 cards is used in the following problems.

a. Find the probability of drawing a heart or a picture card when selecting 1 card at random. Explain why P(heart or picture card) = P(heart) þ P(picture card).

b. Find the probability of drawing 2 cards of the same color if the first card is randomly selected and kept out of the deck and the second card is then selected at random. Explain why P(2 red cards) = (1/2)(1/2).
