A hammer is hung from a small hole in its handle, swung slowly to an angle of theta max = 0.1 radians and then released. The hammer can be modeled as a thin rod ( m = 0.1 kg and L = 0.40 m ) and a small ball at its end ( M = 0.4 kg).

a) Find the total moment of inertia for the hammer under this model.

b) Find the net torque on the hammer, as a function of the angle theta of its swing.

c) What is the angular frequency for this oscillation?

d) What is the maximum speed of the head of the hammer?
