As part of your summer job asa design engineer-assistant at a NASA contractor, your team has been assigned to design a powersystem for orbiting satellites. Your team hasdevised an orbiting “drop cable” system that creates an induced EMF by moving a cable througha magnetic field. In a test, your team dropsa 30.0 km-long cable from the space shuttle, orbiting at a speed of 8.00 x 103 m/s. The magnitude of theearth’s magnetic field at the shuttle’s location isabout 6.50 x 10-5 T.a) Find the motional EMFinduced between the ends of the cable. Assume, and state, what the angle should be between the cableand the magnetic field to get the largestEMF. b) If you were to use this EMF (voltage)to operate electrical devices on the satellite, you would have to connect the far end of the wire to thesatellite. Can you think how to do this? Drawa diagram and show how current would flow.
A sphere of radius R is uniformly charged to a total charge of Q. It is made to spin about an axis that passes through its center with an angular speed ω. Find the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the center of the sphere.
A resistor is in the shape of a cube, with each side of resistance R . Find the equivalent resistance between any two of its adjacent corners.
