Consider a closed container that is divided into two subsystems, each with a volume V. The barrier that divides the system is impermeable, diathermal, and rigid. One of the subsystems contains one mole of H2 and the other contains three moles of Ne. The system is maintained at constant temperature at all times. Suddenly, the partition is made permeable to H2 but not the Ne. Equilibrium is allowed to re-establish itself.

Find the mole numbers and the pressures in each subsystem. You may consider each type of gas to be ideal.
