You are using a 4 sided tetrahedral dice in a dice game. One of these 4 sided dice has 1,2,3 and 4 dots, one on each side of the die. Let's consider the population consisting of the number of dots (1,2,3,4). You roll two dice and observe the number of dots displayed.
a) Find the mean of the population.
b) Find the variance pf the population.
c) Show the entire sample space for the sampling distribution of all possible samples of size 2 by creating a table representing the probability distribution of the sample means.
d) Find the mean of ALL of the sample means.
e) Find the mean of ALL of the sample variances.
f) Do the values of the sample means, target the value of the population mean? Explain.
g) Do the values of the sample variances target the value of the population variance, variances. Explain.
Based on the above, how can I find the sample variances? I entered the numbers 1,2,3,4 into L1 to get the Standard Deviation of a population. Which I got as being 1.11180. I squared that to check 1.25 as the variance of the population. I then squared each standard deviation and got a total of 0.625 (10 divided by 16), but am not sure I did it correctly. The total of all my standard deviation numbers matches the total of all of variance numbers.
But if I did everything correctly, then my variance of the population (1.25) does not target the mean of all the sample variances (0.625) of the sample variances. What am I doing wrong?
