Question: Biology and Environmental Science Over the last few years, the bee population has declined by approximately one-third as a result of mites, fungus, and colony collapse disorder.11 Some states have been more affected than others. To compare the effect on honey production, independent random samples of hives in Kentucky and Missouri were selected and the amount of honey harvested (in pounds) from each was recorded. Assume the underlying populations are normal and the population variances are equal.

a. Is there any evidence to suggest that the mean honey harvest per hive is different in the two states? Use a = 0.05.

b. Find bounds on the p value for the hypothesis test in part (a).
