A 3/8 member in a roof system resists a tension of 20k caused by lateral wind pressure. Lumber is select structural DF-L. A single line of 7/8" diameter bolts is used to make the connection of this member. MC and Temp are normal. No incisions are noted. Find the maximum axial tension using LRFD. Can we resist the same force in compression if the member is 10ft long?
