Question: Air flows through a 0.5-in.-diameter pipe at subsonic velocities. The pipe is 20 ft long and the pressure and temperature at the inlet to the pipe are 60 psia and 130°F, respectively. The pipe is discharged into a large vessel in which the pressure is kept at 20 psia. If the mean friction factor is assumed to be 0.0055 and if the flow is assumed to be adiabatic, find the mass flow rate through the pipe.
