Find the indicated probability. Round to three decimal places.

1) An airline estimates that 94% of people booked on their flights actually show up. If the airline books 73 people on a flight for which the maximum number is 71, what is the probability that the number of people who show up will exceed the capacity of the plane?

Solve the problem.

2) On a multiple choice test with 17 questions, each question has four possible answers, one of which is correct. For students who guess at all answers, find the mean for the number of correct answers.

3) The probability that a radish seed will germinate is 0.7. A gardener plants seeds in batches of 15. Find the standard deviation for the number of seeds germinating in each batch.

Provide an appropriate response.

4) The SAT is an exam used by colleges and universities to evaluate undergraduate applicants. The test scores are normally distributed. In a recent year, the mean test score was 1481 and the standard deviation was 292. The test scores of four students selected at random are 1930, 1340, 2150, and 1450.

a) Find the z-scores that correspond to each value

b) Determine whether any of the values are unusual.

5) Assume that the random variable X is normally distributed, with mean  and standard deviation  Compute the probability P(X < 90).
