ELF communication signals ( f < 3 kHz) can more effectively penetrate seawater than VHL signals ( 3 kHz < f < 30 kHz). In practice, an ELF signal used for communication can penetrate and be received at a depth of up to 80 m below the ocean surface.
(a) Find the ELF frequency at which the skin depth in seawater is equal to 80 m. For seawater, use \sigma = 4 S/m^-1, \epsilon_r = 81, and mew = mew_0.
(b) Find the ELF frequency at which the skin depth is equal to half of 80 m
(c) At 100 Hz, find the depth at which the peak value of the electric field propagating vertically downward in seawater is 40 dB less than its value immediately below the surface of the sea. (To calculate a dB value for a wave amplitude use dB = 20*log10 [amplitude] ).
(d) A surface vehicle-based transmitter operating at 1kHz generates an electromagnetic signal of peak value 1 V /m immediately below the sea surface. If the antenna and the receiver system of the submerged vehicle can measure a signal with a peak value of as low as 1 microV/m, calculate the maximum depth beyond which the surface vehicle can no longer communicate with the submarine.
Draw the positive, negative, and zero sequence networks for the system. Include all impedance values and determine the bus voltages at midnight? What problem(s) do you detect?
A single-turn resonant circular loop with a /8 radius is made of copper wire with a wire radius of 10^4 pi f/2 and conductivity of 5.7 × 10^7S/m. For a frequency of 100 MHz, determine, assuming uniform current
Perform a link budget for a 25-kilometer point-to-point microwave link in the 30 GHz band. Calculate the free space loss (dB), received power dBm), fade margin (dB), and Fresnel zone radius(m) given the following: Tx Power = 70 dBm
What functions must the communications stations perform? Repeat for ring and star.
Explain in detail on the fabrication process of the FINFET. You must show a 3-dimensional view of FINFET and label the its L and W, the length and width of the gate.
The response of a LTI system to the input x[n] = (1/4)^n u[n] is y[n]=5(3/4)^n u[n]. A) Find the impluse response h[n] of the system. B) Find the output y[n] for the input x[n] =(1/3)^n u[n].
Three single phase transformers with a turns ratio of 1:1 are connected to form a three phase transformer. The transformer input is a three wire three phase 120V (line-to-line) system. the transformer output supplies a "Y" connected three phase lo..
A clever student notices that a high constant loop gain would make the PLL converge in frequency and phase. Rather than use an amplifier with infinite gain the student decides to just use an unstable filter.
Design a logic circuit, LOGARITHM that converts an input number X to its logarithm, log(X). Input X is given as an unsigned real number such that, 1.00
After having the VHDL code tested, make sure to run ISE-Simulator. Since there are 4 inputs, modify the test-bench code for all sixteen possibilities. View the waveform and test it against your truth table.
A Gaussian random process having a mean value of 2 and a variance of 4 is passed through an ideal half-wave rectifier. a) Let Xp (t) represent the random process at the output of the half-wave rectifier
an analog ammeter and the faceplate states an accuracy of +/- 1.5% of full scale value. if we take a measurement on the 10A scale and we measure 1.8A, what are the limits that the actual value will fall under.
