Problem Statement

The problem is to find the efflux time (time needed to empty the tank contents), for the given experimental setup consisting of Circular tank.

1) With Orifice/s opening at the bottom

2) With an exit pipe/s extending from the bottom of the tank

The top of the tank as well as the bottom of the drain pipe are exposed to the atmosphere.  Thus, the liquid drains from the tank under the influence of gravity.

Equipment set up

The apparatus for this project is a cylindrical tank fitted with a depth gauge. Various interchangeable exit pipes can be screwed into the bottom of the tank. 

The pumping system to the tank will be constructed with the feed tank. The outlet liquid flow rate needs to be measured with proper way.The efflux time will be measured using exit pipe/s extending from the bottom of the tank.

Objectives:

1) Design and construct the equipment to achieve the objectives

2) Observe the rate of drainage of liquids from a tank through exit tubes of various sizes and lengths.

3) Applied all the required calculations.
