Interpersonal violence is when people intentionally try to physically, emotionally and or sexually hurt another person; including but not limited to, neglect (Mercy, 2017). Three issues a counselor or counselor in training would need to consider when evaluating the quality of community resources for prevention of interpersonal violence are understanding the caliber of the resources i.e.) how helpful are they, transportation, and the safety of the community. If the community resource center is poorly rated then the counselor should not send the client there because as a trained counselor, they know that if the resources are not implemented correctly, they can do more harm than good. Transportation is another important community resource the counselor should consider because the client may not be able to get to the community resource that they need such as, the bus stops may not be suitable or safe for the client to avoid their interpersonal violence situation. Another consideration is to access the city in which the client lives in. There could be a community that is full of gang life or it not being safe to leave the house at night. Which means the client, if living with the abuser, will be stuck in a situation where they must choose to stay in the house with their abuser or they should risk going outside. It is important to evaluate all community resources because it will affect the client's treatment plan as well as, how the counselor will handle the client's specific situation. is there any other issues that should be considered?
