Gaseous oxygen (99% pure, molar basis) is to be produced at a rate of 350ft^3/hr in a Linde single column plant. The column operates at a pressure of 1 atm. Air leaves the compressor at a pressure of 10 atm. The Nitrogen product is to have 91 percent purity. Dry compressed air enters the heat exchanger at 70 degrees F and the outgoing products leave the heat exchanger at 60 degrees F. You may assume that the inlet air and gaseous products behave as ideal gases near room temperature and at atmospheric pressure. Determine a) the volume of air in ft^3/hr which must be compressed, b) the oxygen yield (ratio of moles of oxygen produced to moles of oxygen available), and c) the temperature at which the air must leave the heat exchanger.
