a. An Internet news organization asks visitors to its website to respond to the question, "Are you satisfied with the president's job performance?" Of n = 3500 respondents, 61% say that they are not satisfied with the president's performance. On the basis of this survey, the organization writes an article saying that a majority of Americans are not satisfied with the president.

b. A convenience sample of n = 400 college students in two classes at the same university is used to estimate the proportion that is left-handed in the nationwide population of college students.
