a)Based on the data/information given in items #1 to #4, explain/justify all results derived from the data/results in each experiment. For each peptide you are required to give the sequence of the smaller peptides T1,T2,CT1, and CT2, before you determine the original peptide sequence.

1.The acid hydolysis of a small peptide was found to be Tyr, Phe, Asp,Gly,Lys,Val and Ala.

2.The original peptide when treated with trypsin produced two pepetides: T1(Asp, Gly,Tyr) and T2(Lys,phe,Val,Ala).

3.When the original peptide was treated with chymotrypsin, three peptides were produced; CT1(Lys,Tyr,Gly), CT2(Phe,Ala,Val) and CT3(Asp).

4.When the original peptide was treated with 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene and hydrolyzed, one mole of DNP-Lys and one mole of DNP-Ala were recovered.

b) Give a respond to each of the items below after your explanations for #1 to #4. Only short responses.

a) What information about the peptide is provided by experiment #1 above?

b)What is the C-terminal amino acid in the original peptide?

c) What is the N-terminal amino acid original peptide?

d)What is the structure of DNP-lysine?

e)What is the amino acid sequence of the heptapeptide based on peptide mapping and after the various treatments given in the problem?

f) Name the peptide.
