Each student will write a 4 to 5 page paper (single spaced) describing the diplomatic position of their assigned member state on the ongoing Syrian crisis and the proper U.N. response to the crisis. Students should try to find out as much as possible about the diplomatic positions that their state has taken currently and in the past on Syria and on prior similar crises.

With significant research each student should be able to find out how his or her member state has approached similar situations in past UN debates. Students should also research the voting blocs, regional and otherwise, with which their state has traditionally voted. This can be useful information when students have difficulty finding specific information on their state's party voting positions.

In their position paper students should provide a detailed discussion of what their state would like to see emerge from the Security Council debate in terms of actions or resolutions via the Syrian crisis.
