A manager at a software company says to their engineering team: "Let's brainstorm to find a new idea for a game based on Nordic mythology. We'll all come up with suggestions and then I will decide on which one we pick to pitch it to upper management". Why is this not a good example of brainstorming? Nordic mythology is too much constraints to really be creative. The top manager should only pick their best engineer to come up with ideas. Everyone should contribute to evaluating the suggestions. The group should launch their idea whatever upper management says.
