Problem: A car is traveling at a constant speed of 42.5 m/s. It passes a police officer on a motorcycle. One second after the speeding car passes the officer; the officer takes off to catch the car, accelerating at a constant rate of 3.00 m/s2.

Part A: How long does it take the officer to catch up with the car?

I don't understand how to get the answer. Can you please help me with this problem?
