An asteroid is headed towards a starbase. To try and avoid a collision, an explosive device is planted on the asteroid, which breaks it into two pieces, one of which is 2.4 times the mass of the other. Both pieces pass the starbase at the same time. The starbase itself is 2.2 km wide, and the lighter piece of the asteroid passes it 1800 m from one of the starbases edges. Does the other piece of the asteroid hit the starbase? The answer is No it pass 100m from the outer edge but how?
