1. A solenoid (figure B) has a radius 0.125 meters, length 1.8 meters, and 600 turns of wire. If the current in the solenoid is 35 amps, calc the magnitude of the magnetic field in the solenoid.

a. 0.015 Tesla
b. 2.8 E-5 Tesla
c. 1.6 E-19 Tesla
d. 2.0 E-7 Tesla
e. 0.020 Tesla

2. Referring to the solenoid in figure B, the current is clockwise when viewed from the left. Assume a positive charge is located in the middle of the solenoid with a velocity direction up toward the top of the page. At this moment, determine the direction of magnetic force acting on the positive charge.

a. to the left
b. to the right
c. out of the page
d. into the page
e. there is no force on the charge

Please explain the answer as I want to know why that is the case. Thank you very much.
