In this experiment you are interested in how water pollution affects stream diversity. You are testing an unknown pollutant as a condition, but you will only know that the levels are none, moderate and severe.

You will have two different dependent variables; number of macroinvertebrates caught (by species) and the Simpson's Index of Diversity. You will need to make a hypothesis for each of these variables. How will severe pollution affect the community diversity of macroinvertebrates? Which macroinvertebrate species be more tolerant/sensitive than another?

Identify the dependent variables, independent variables and control variables?
