In many cases, current marketing works by trying to get a customer to change his or her desired state in the need recognition step of the consumer decision process model. This means that the company tries to influence customers to want to purchase its product instead of a different product. Read the section of the chapter concerning need recognition and the desired state that consumer’s experience. Complete the following for this assignment:

Find an example of a current advertisement that is trying to convince customers that their current states are not acceptable, and that they need a particular product. Examples can come from television, magazines, radio, direct mail, or the Internet.

Describe the advertisement you chose. Include the following information:

Identify the desired state the advertisement is trying to encourage in customers. In addition, describe how the advertisement is trying to change customers' need recognition.

Explain why you do think the ad is or is not effective.
