Force on a Current Loop in a Nonuni form Magnetic Field. It was shown in section 27.7 that the net force on a current loop in a uniform magnetic field is zero. But what if B→ is not uniform? The figure shows a square loop of wire that lies in the wy-plane. The loop has corners at (0, 0), (0, L),(L, 0), and (L, L) and carries a constant current / in the clockwise direction. The loop is in a magnetic field that points into the page and whose magnitude is given by the equation: B = (Boxy/ L2) where Bo is n positive constant.
(a) Find an equation for the magnitude of the net magnetic force on the loop in terms of the constants Bo, I, and L.
