HYPERACTIVITY IN FIRST GRADE

Overview

Mr. Combes provides inclusion support for students with disabilities in the general education first-grade classroom. One of the students on his caseload, Bertina, has trouble focusing on the learning and frequently needs to be redirected to sit in her chair and look at the teacher. Bertina is struggling with the first-grade learning material and is behind her classmates in her reading skills and mathematical fact fluency. Mr. Combes would like to find a solution for helping Bertina stay focused as he believes this would help her be more successful in the classroom.

Baseline Data

Bertina required 24 redirections to pay attention during math lessons over the course of one week. Bertina required 18 redirections to pay attention during language arts lessons over the course of one week.
