The following data represents the battery life, in hours, for a random sample of 10 fully charged batteries of an iPhone 8.
Battery Life (hours): 11.3, 11.6, 12.2, 11.2, 12.9, 12.0, 11.8, 12.5, 12.1, 12.0
(Assume that all criteria for constructing the confidence interval has been met.)
a) Find a point estimate for the mean battery life of an iPhone 8.
b) Construct a 98% confidence interval for the population mean number of hours the battery will last.
c) Interpret the 98% confidence interval.
d) The marketing department wants to advertise to customers that the battery life of the iPhone 8 will be 12 hours. Is it reasonable to conclude that the mean will be as high as 12 hours? Explain why or why not.
e) The iPhone 14 was released in 2022 with a new battery (different power requirements). Is it reasonable to use the data above to come to conclusions regarding the life of that battery? Explain why or why not.
