Principled defiance is the issue that that struck my interest more than anything. In life, everyone wants to take the safe route especially when it comes to the finances. While most tend to follow the crowds as Dr. Crosby stated, when you look at society itself the majority of the individuals that stand out financially are those that have done something differently than the majority. His prime example, John Paulson, really makes for an excellent example of going against everyone else's believes by betting against the mortgage lending market. While a risking bet for many, Paulson reaped the extreme rewards of the gamble molding philosophy into the minds of investors around the world. I gained this valuable insight to think outside of the box in every aspect of life in order to overcome adversity and to flourish financially as well. This is an important topic that everyone should pay close attention to. One day being strange can really pay off. When investing in stock markets, real estate, or any other option that is suited to oneself weighing all of your options, following trends, and doing extensive research will help you make the most logical decision. Although setting yourself outside of the box from the majority can be the difference in feast or famine, never ignore other advice or knowledge. Listen to others, because you can learn from others experiences and build yourself and your financial portfolio by expanding your horizons.
