The most competent typist makes an error occasionaly, but that error does not appear in the letter or document placed on the employer's desk for signature. Why? Because the typist has carfully proofread the work, the error has been detected and it has been corectd.

While proofreding has always been an integral part of the typist's training, it is now doubly important because if you wish to operate a word procesing program, your ability to check quickly and correct errors in typing, speling, grammar and so on, is even more meaningful.

Doc's prepored using a word processing program are often used over and over again, and you can well imagine the disastrus results if you typed the wrong figures and were careless in checking your finished work, and you original error was then repeated hundreds of times.
