Question: Mr. Gallant is a 40 year old male who had an appendectomy. He is experiencing pain and finds it difficult to do the deep breathing and coughing exercises that have been requested. His oxygen levels have been running a bit low, and he is beginning to sound congested. He received instruction and is aware that these exercises will help prevent post-op complications like pneumonia. He was also told that he had to get up to his chair.
