A health organization asserted that the prevalence of smoking among male adults 18 years or older in the United States exceeds the prevalence of smoking among female adults 18 years or older. In a random survey of 1000 U.S. adults 18 years or older, 129 of the 516 male respondents identified themselves as smokers, and 87 of the 484 female respondents identified themselves as smokers.
